Main Sources of Tar Production & Exporting Countries

In this comprehensive article, we will discuss the main sources of production and the countries that export tar from Faraz oil petroleum products company, stay with us

Bitumen is a hydrocarbon material. People produce it from crude oil and use it in various industries such as insulation and moisture infiltration to surface.

It plays an important role in human development. One of the most important applications of pitch includes stone grain binder in asphalt and road construction.

We can say that more than 85% of the pitch is used in asphalt and road construction and the remainder is used for building and insulation.

The Main Sources of Tar Production

Individuals convert pitch into three categories include natural bitumen, petroleum pitch and tar according to the origin of production.

Ø  Natural Tars

They are solid. These materials are in the shallow layers of the earth’s crust too.

We can see them in the natural way.

Natural pitches have seen from the layer of the earth’s crust in some areas, so humans can see them.

In fact, we can say them if time passes, the light components of crude oil will evaporate and convert to natural tar due to weathering.

These materials are heavy pitches and the source of their production is crude oil.

Humans divide the substances into the following groups based on their form, physical properties, solubility and chemical compositions.

Asphaltic pyrobiumen, Non-Asphaltic Pyrobitumen,  Asphaltite.

Ø  Petroleum Pitch

People produce oil tar from crude oil distillation in refining industry. They initially heat crude oil in the refinery and furnace before entering the tower at temperatures of 300-350 degrees Celsius.

When it enters the tower, some of it is liquid and the other part is vapor.

The boiling point is high in the liquid part, but it is low in the vapor part that if the temperature rises, it will be separated from the column.

As a result, humans separate light components of crude oil such as gasoline, kerosene and gas oil. They remove hydrocarbons- that they have higher molecular mass- of the tower too.

A large part of the resulting mixture is from tar and lubricant. Humans need to separate it before tar supplier receives it.

Ø  Tar Pitch

This type of pitch has the same appearance and application as oil tar, so people introduce it with the same name.

The source of the tar production is different from the oil tar, so its chemical composition, physical properties, behavior and function are different.

Tar is produced from burning natural organic materials such as wood or coal and their destructive distillation without air.

We can produce two types of tar according to the type of process through burning or carbonization of coal.

If people perform a process at 1200 degrees Celsius, pitch will have a high percentage of aromatic materials. Tar has a low percentage of aromatic materials, if people do it at 600 degrees Celsius.

Applications of tar include road construction (only surface coatings), charcoal dust, coal electrodes, glazing as well as pipe coating.

Foamed Pitch Efficiency

Other applications of pitch include road construction industrial applications, moisture insulation of residential & commercial buildings and electrical insulation.

According to the next above, individuals use a large part of bitumen in road construction and use the rest of it according to location and production area for moisture insulators and industrial applications.

Pitch Exports

People produce more than 100 million tons of tar in the world that about 40 % of it is consumed in Asia, 30 % in the Americas and the Caribbean as well as 18 % in European countries.

Russia and CIS countries consume 7% of tar, but Africa and Oceania consume 5% of pitch.

Bitumen exporters & importers exported 25 million tons of tar in 2014 and 2015.

The largest exporting countries of this product are as follows:

South Korea, Singapore, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Canada as well as Spain.

Iran produces 5 million tons of tar annually and also exports 3.5 million tons of pitch.

As a result, we can say that it is the fourth largest producer and third largest exporter of bitumen in the world. That has a special place in global markets.

The most important pitch exporting countries in the world include South Korea with a 15% profit, Singapore with a 12% profit as well as Iran with 11% profit.

The people of our country produce tar in large refineries with modern technology and know it as the best tar because that removes the standard requirements of all countries.

People supply this product in bulk, barrel, bag and Bitutainer in Iran and deliver it in the project site.

The Most of Iran Exports of Bitumen

United States sanctions have had an impact on oil exports, but it cannot create a disruption in exporting petroleum products because it has many customers.

People pack it in various forms such as barrels, bulk as well as bagging and then export it through land and sea routes.

Our country exports this substance in barrel to countries such as India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Myanmar.

It exports this material in bulk to countries such as UAE, Oman, India, Iraq as well as China.

Iran sends that in bag mould to countries such as Taiwan, China, Qatar, Vietnam and Myanmar too.

Now, Iran exports pitch to 30 different countries in barrels and 9 different countries in bulk as well as 8 different countries in bags.
